A Picnic Themed Baby Shower
On April 1, I went all the way to Chingford to celebrate with my good friend and neighbour (gosh, how did we get so lucky?!) for her first baby shower!!
I have been so excited for this baby to arrive since we found out they were expecting at FOUR WEEKS! Yes, we know you're not supposed to find out until twelve weeks minimum, but I just had a feeling and then we both asked/told at the same time. It was magical, and I will never forget experiencing this whole time with them both. They are going to be great parents!
We went back to Chingford together as that's where their families are from. It was held at her parent's home, with family, old friends, and new friends all coming together to celebrate this little life they've made together. Although Claire isn't the first pregnant friend I've had, this is the first baby shower I've been to and oh lord they are the cutest!! Why is everything tiny so cute?!
I took a whole slew of photographs to remember the day, if you'd like to see?
We played games for the entire afternoon after eating our weight in cake and it was just such a chilled atmosphere. None of us knew one another before the event, and by the end of it were were like old friends. It's amazing how something so small can bring so many people together.
As a gift for the new parents, I put together a 'baby basket' for them.
I thought this was a brilliant idea, because there wasn't one specific thing I wanted to get the new parents. This way, I was able to curate the items into a well thought out bundle, enabling them to get a little of everything. In the basket, I included:

- Baby gro's - for when the baby gets bigger, so they have something to put them into
- Bibs
- Scratch mitts
- A pair of suede, fringe booties
- A bear blanket
- Cotton balls
- Baby wipes
- Bio oil
- Nipple cream
- A rubber teether
- A rattle
- Nappy sacks
- Their first toothbrush
- Baby shampoo
I thoroughly enjoyed the day, and really enjoyed shopping for our newest neighbour. They're due on April 17 and I literally cannot wait to get some newborn snuggles!
Have you been to a baby shower recently? What was the theme?
This is such a clever theme for a baby shower! Makes for better catering options too :-)
